Happy Valentine's Day!
My mom and I have spent the day watching out our shop's window at hapless men walking into the unopening door of a certain chain drugstore which closed two weeks ago after giving more than 6 months of notice.
Some catch on quickly, noticing that the neon signs are no longer lit. Others attend to have the door sensor catch them walking so that they can gain entrance, then rattle the door, then peer in, then peer in again (this time using their hands as sunshields), walk around the corner, walk back to the door. And then finally back to their cars to drive somewhere else for their cheap chocolates and mass-produced cards.
Today is not only Valentine's Day... it's also the release of Holly's movie. It's nice to know a Jersey Girl who made it, even though she abandoned us all to move to Amherst. How her life has changed in the past 5 years before any of her books made the top of the NYT list. Apparently, Tony Diterlizzi's illustrations have been recreated into Happy Meal toys. Here's a photo of the premiere in LA.
GO HOLLY!!!
