Bay Days

Oyster Boats

Bay Days Festival is an event down the Delaware Bay... It's advertised as the "largest festival in the tristate area," but it's really just a small craft and educational fair that you take a bus ride to. Got to eat some yummy pulled pork from Kingfish B-B-Q, listen to a wonderful old-time band, painted a marsh scene (now hanging on the refrigerator), and took a wonderful ride up and down the Maurice River (that's pronounced "morris," Mr. Miller!).

On the boat, we learned about how the oyster industry came and went in the last century, saw nesting osprey, and saw how the landscape changed with the increasing saltiness of the water. We really enjoyed ourselves but could understand that if you hadn't borrowed bug spray from a nice couple and was expecting something bigger, you'd be as disappointed as you were going to the Punkin Chunkin' Competition in DE (hypothetically speaking of course!).
